Andrea Glenn
MSc, RD, PhD

Andrea Glenn is a Registered Dietitian and Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto, working under the supervision of Dr. John Sievenpiper. During her Ph.D., she developed a Portfolio Diet score for use in epidemiological study designs, which she then applied to two international cohorts (PREDIMED-Plus and the Women’s Health Initiative) to assess the role of the Portfolio diet in cardiometabolic disease prevention. She has vast work experience in nutrition research (in clinical trials & epidemiology), teaching, and knowledge translation. Andrea’s specific interest and experience are in plant-based dietary patterns (including the Portfolio and vegetarian diets) and the glycemic index in the prevention and management of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Using evidence-based practice and knowledge translation activities, she strives to educate healthcare professionals and the public to reduce the burden of chronic disease globally. Andrea is also interested in the impact of dietary patterns on both population and planetary health.
